Highest rated defensive players

Brandon Williams (4.6), Kapron Lewis-Moore (2.5), Carl Davis (2.0), Brennen Beyer (2.0), Terrell Suggs (1.2)

Timmy Jernigan has gotten more attention this offseason as a breakout candidate following the trade of Haloti Ngata, but Brandon Williams might wind up having the better season.  He certainly had a heck of a game Saturday night.

Williams was a beast against the run across 22 snaps (4.1), plugging up running lanes like a man possessed.  He was a man among boys when matched up with the Redskins’ offensive line.

Lewis-Moore had his best performance of the preseason across 28 snaps as he fights for a roster spot. He too was beastly against the run (2.9), racking up 3 defensive stops along the way.  This game is a mere sample of what the young man can do if he can stay healthy.

Davis has been quietly doing a great job so far as a rotational piece along the defensive line.  The 3rd round rookie picked up a QB hurry and clogged up running lanes across 36 very productive snaps.

Beyer is fighting for a roster spot at a crowded linebacker position and made a case for himself against the Redskins.  He racked up a QB hurry, 2 tackles, and a stop.

Suggs had a nice game one week after his poor performance against the Eagles.  Across 29 snaps, he had a QB hit and played the run well (1.8).
