How is it that the Baltimore Ravens are still seeking answers with one preseason game to go?

The backup running back job

Former Ravens running back Bernard Pierce took the team by surprise when he faced some off-the-field troubles in the offseason, which ultimately led to him being let go by the team. That, however, put the Ravens in a tough position because even though Justin Forsett had the season of his life last year, he still needs a worthy backup and Pierce was at least that.

Lorenzo Taliaferro appeared to be making a great case for the backup job this offseason until he went down with a knee injury in Baltimore’s second preseason game that will put him out of commission for several weeks.

That leaves rookie Buck Allen, who hasn’t impressed all that well so far in the offseason. Allen was given his first opportunity to showcase his skills as the No. 2 running back in Saturday’s preseason game against the Redskins, but he didn’t take advantage of the opportunity, averaging just two yards per carry and even fumbling on the goal line, preventing his first NFL touchdown.

That said, there’s another question that though once appeared to be answered, is now no longer the case.
