Highest rated defensive players

Brandon Williams (7.6), Elvis Dumervil (6.9), Timmy Jernigan (3.1), Lardarius Webb (2.4), Daryl Smith (1.6)

While the secondary was getting burned, you can’t blame the guys up front for this loss.  Brandon Williams and the defensive line simply swallowed up the Bengals’ ground game, limiting their talented young runners to only 86 yards on 31 carries (2.8 ypc) collectively.

The pass rush was working as well against a very good Bengals offensive line.  Williams managed 2 hurries, while Dumervil had a sack and 5 hurries as well.  Timmy Jernigan looked much better than last week and chipped in 2 hurries while also playing stout run defense.

Webb was a lone bright spot in the secondary, amazingly.  He gave up a mere 1 catch on 3 targets for 9 yards and a 42.4 QB rating.  He was the only defensive back who received a positive grade this week.

Smith played well in coverage (as always), giving up only one catch for 9 yards.  He also played stout run defense and chipped in a QB hurry for good measure.
