Chris Givens

We weren’t sure how much of an impact the newly acquired Givens would have in his first couple of games as a Raven, admittedly.  Turns out, the speedy deep threat has been a complete non-factor, catching only 1 of 3 targets for 7 yards.

So it might be a bit of a stretch to expect Givens to do anything this week against the 49ers.  But there’s one caveat here, and it’s a tasty one.  The 49ers have been giving up big plays through the air at an alarming clip, allowing a whopping 6 plays of 28 yards or more against the Steelers alone.

The 49ers also rank in the cellar in regards to pass defense, coming in at 30th while giving up an average of just under 300 yards per game.  Joe Flacco is going to light up this secondary, and somebody is going to get open deep for at least one big play.

Plus, the Ravens’ pass defense has been pretty putrid themselves, ranking 25th and giving up an average of 278 yards a game.  This one might turn into a shootout, which bodes well for any and all healthy Ravens pass catchers.

With Waller ailing, my money this week (aside from Kamar Aiken and Steve Smith, if healthy) is on Givens.
