Keep a safety over the top to prevent big plays

This one might definitely be a classic example of “easier said than done.”  The Cardinals are a dangerous team when Carson Palmer is allowed to go deep, and a few big plays down the field will put the Ravens in a precarious position that they aren’t equipped to get out of with their struggling pass offense.

Sophomore wide receiver John Brown is a big play machine who possesses unwordly speed to go deep in a hurry.  His role in the offense has also grown in year two as he and Carson Palmer exhibit improved chemistry.  Last week, Brown burned the Steelers to the tune of 10 catches for 196 yards with a gaudy 19.6 average and a long of 45 yards.

It’s nothing new for Brown, who is averaging 15.1 ypc this season and 14.7 for his career.  The Ravens don’t have a corner who will match up with the little guy one on one, and their pass rush has been non-existent this season.  It would be wise to keep safety help over the top and try to limit Palmer to the short passing game.
