Sleepers are guys who may not be household names, but they do provide a great deal of upside and have the chance to surprise.  Football fans look for sleepers every week, mostly because they are obsessed with fantasy football, but also because they just love to root for the underdog.

We’ve been working to identify Baltimore Ravens players who might emerge as sleepers this season, which has been a bit of a struggle with the team’s dysfunctional performance through 6 weeks.  Still, we roll on determined.

Before we take a look at our week 7 sleepers, let’s take a look back at week 6’s sleepers and how they performed, because full disclosure is such a rarity these days.

Buck Allen – 4 carries, 13 yards, 1 catch for 8 yards

Jeremy Ross – 3 catches, 34 yards, 1 kick return for 41 yards, 1 punt return for 9 yards

Chris Givens – 2 catches for 18 yards

Justin Forsett was iffy coming into week 6, and he looked pretty hobbled and ineffective against the 49ers defense (3.6 ypc).  Unfortunately, Allen didn’t do any better in his limited action.  The Ravens are sure to ride Forsett whenever he’s able to suit up, however.

Ross has taken over as the main returner and is showing some serious YAC skills on offense as well.  The Ravens would be wise to increase his role, as well as Givens, who caught both of his targets Sunday. Ross did see 5 looks this week, which was good enough for 3rd most among pass catchers.

Let’s take a look at what sleepers you should keep an eye on this week as the Ravens face another tough road test in Arizona.
