Cheers: Once again, Steve Smith is the Ravens offense

On a night when he wasn’t supposed to be able to do anything in the shadow coverage of shutdown corner Patrick Peterson, the ageless Steve Smith was still the most effective player on the Ravens offense.

Smith secured 5 of 9 targets for 78 yards in what surely wasn’t his finest performance of the season by any means (actually one of the worst), but it also came on a night when no one else could muster anything against a stiff defense.

And that came as the ground game had absolutely no room to run, either.  Justin Forsett “led” the Ravens in rushing with only 36 yards on 12 totes, and the Ravens rushed for a mere 55 yards as a team. Few had much faith in Smith coming into this matchup, but he proved to be matchup proof once again.
