Preview: The Jacksonville Jaguars return to Baltimore for the second straight year, but this time it’s under much different circumstances. When they made the trip last December, the Jags were a fledgling team looking to win any game they could, and the Ravens were fighting for a playoff spot.
Fast forward to today, and both of these teams have under performed expectations with identical records of 2-6. While the Jaguars were expected to improve on last year’s win/loss total, the Ravens were expected to compete for a Super Bowl title.

The Jaguars, at least offensively, have made some strides despite their record. Thanks to a stellar young duo of pass catchers in Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns, the Jags sport the NFL’s 16th ranked offense, a dramatic improvement from last year’s 31st ranked unit.
For the Ravens, that presents a bit of a problem. Currently ranked 29th in pass defense, the Ravens are giving up an average of 283.9 yards per game, gifting opposing passers with a 106.9 rating. Stopping the Allens, along with tight end Julius Thomas, could prove to be a problem.
The Ravens have proven that they can still stop the run, however (10th best rush defense), and they still surprisingly sport a someone prolific offense (14th) that will certainly give the Jaguars defense some problems.
If history is any guide, the Jaguars are going to have problems pulling out the win on the road. The Jags last road victory came all the way back on December 1st of 2013, when they squeaked out a 32-28 victory over the Cleveland Browns.
This one won’t be a blowout by any means, but ultimately the smart money is on the Ravens to pull one out at home and keep their season alive (or at least on life support).
