The first things Ravens fans can gain on Sunday is seeing their least favorite team eliminated from the playoffs. Yes, if the Jets win the Steelers are eliminated from the playoffs. Other than a magical reset button to the season, nothing would give us more joy than to see our arch rivals playoff hopes squashed.
The Bengals have the division wrapped up but will try to win to get the first round bye week. The Broncos beat them last week so not everything is in the control of the Bengals. If the Broncos win against the Chargers the Bengals will not get the first round bye.
Ravens fans would enjoy a victorious finale but a win would do more harm than good. The Ravens would only risk falling out of the top ten draft pick discussion. You don’t have to root for a loss but it is the better scenario for the future. We’d enjoy the win for ten minutes or so and then realize what it cost.
Now I will be keeping an eye on the Jets game, hoping they beat the Bills. This will shatter the Steelers dreams. I will be rooting for Denver to win so the Bengals don’t get a first round bye. It may sound petty but rooting against our rivals is all Ravens Nation really has right now.
As for the Ravens what happens, happens. It is almost impossible to be happy when the Ravens do poorly. That said it is better for the future if the Ravens lose. When you have 5 wins in January the future means much more than the present.
