Ravens 2016 Opponents Could Make Challenging Schedule

The Baltimore Ravens will not know their 2016 season for quite sometime, but they do know what teams will be on that schedule. The Ravens could have some tough contests next season.

As they do every season, the Ravens must face all three divisional opponents on the road and at home. The Steelers and Bengals never make for an easy game. The Browns would have swept the Ravens if not for a last second blocked field goal return. The AFC North won’t get any easier in 2016.

The Ravens must do battle with the AFC East, which no longer can be mocked as the “AFC Easy.” The Jets and Bills are now capable teams. The Jets would be in the playoffs if not for a certain bearded Harvard grad…(cough, cough Ryan Fitzpatrick). The Patriots are perennial winners and to be fair, nobody really knows what the 2016 Dolphins will look like.

The Ravens also have the NFC East on their slate. The Dallas Cowboys are ready to rebound. They were only down because of injuries, especially the injury of quarterback Tony Romo. The Eagles have talent and without the craziness of Chip Kelly it might come into fruition. The Redskins may have found an at least competent quarterback in Kirk Cousins. The Giants have always been competent offensively, we’ll see if they can fix the defense.

The other two games are between the Raiders at home and the Jaguars on the road. The Raiders did not go to the playoffs this season but they seem to be a team on the rise. Jack Del Rio is a tough coach and his team reflects that. Derrick Carr has given the Raiders a breath of fresh air at the quarterback position.

The Jaguars may not sound like the most intimidating opponent but they have talent on offense. Blake Bortles was a machine in the second half of the season. Allen Robinson emerged as a star receiver for the Jaguars in 2015.

The good news for the Ravens is that they don’t have to deal with the west coast trips that burdened them in 2015. The furthest West the Ravens travel in 2016 is Dallas.

The Ravens schedule in 2015 was rougher than next season’s schedule appears to be. It also is very early to say what games will be difficult. It will be very interesting how it plays out.
