  9. Round 7: Darren Waller, WR (GT) 204th Overall Pick

I’m not penalizing the Ravens for Breshad Perriman. Injuries aren’t predictable and he could still turn out to be something special. The Ravens clearly didn’t draft based on need in this draft. The Ravens drafted two tight ends when they already had Crockett Gillmore. Carl Davis joined a very crowded group of Ravens defensive linemen. But it is hard to argue with the talent they brought in.

Davis and “Buck” Allen may have been the biggest steals in the draft. Davis is a colossal space eater who shows amazing potential. Davis reminds me a little of Tony Siragusa, he could develop into that kind of player for the Ravens. Allen has a skill set very comparable to that of Ray Rice. He could prove to be the Ravens next star.

There you have it. That is a synopsis of the Ravens draft history. I think it is easy to look at Newsome’s success and call him a genius. I also think its easy to look at his misses and slip into criticizing him. He has been a strong decision maker. He isn’t perfect but he has done much more right than he has done wrong.
