The Baltimore Ravens have agreed to terms with Benjamin Watson according to reports. Watson is a 13 year veteran who is coming off his best statistical season. Replacing Jimmy Graham’s production for the New Orleans Saints, Watson had 74 receptions, 825 yards and six touchdowns in the 2015 season.

More from Ravens News

In his career, Watson has racked up 434 receptions for 4,963 yards and 38 touchdowns. He may not offer the wowing ability of a tight end like Rob Gronkowski, but he is very capable of being productive. Joe Flacco will like having another big target to throw the football to, Watson has a thick 6’3″ frame.

Watson and Crockett Gillmore could provide a solid one-two punch at the tight end position. Last season Gillmore showed that he could be a go to weapon in the Ravens offense. It will be interesting to see how Maxx Williams works into the action as well. This move isn’t shocking after the news of Nick Boyle’s ten game suspension for PED use.

Clearly the Ravens are focused on providing Flacco with better weapons. The fact that Watson is coming off the best year of his career should excite the Ravens. It means that when Watson is given the opportunity he can really shine. One of the important aspects of this signing is that Watson is also a strong blocking tight end.
