Baltimore Ravens: What Is The Free Agency Plan?

The Baltimore Ravens have been busy creating cap space. The free agent frenzy is about to begin and the Ravens want to be able to make a move or two to improve the team. According to reports by the Baltimore Sun’s Jeff Zrebiec the Ravens have restructured Marshall Yanda’s contract and had Kyle Arrington take a pay cut.

The Ravens have had a busy couple of weeks. First the Ravens extend the contract of franchise quarterback, Joe Flacco until 2021. Next the team re-signed a couple of their players in long snapper Morgan Cox and cornerback, Shareece Wright. The Ravens then placed a second round tender on Kamar Aiken and made a deal bringing tight end, Benjamin Watson to the Ravens.

The Ravens have been rumored as interested in several free agents. Mike Wallace has come up into the conversation of Ravens free agent options. It is no secret that the Ravens would like to add talent to their secondary. There are plenty of moves that the Ravens want to make. They mystery is how are the Ravens going to pull any of them off?

The Ravens have clearly been busy. The question is what could be brewing in the Castle? The Ravens are seldom a team that makes moves in the beginning of the NFL Free Agency period. Agreeing to terms with Watson this early was an indicator that the Ravens were very eager to make some moves.

The problem is that the Ravens have very little cap space remaining. They cannot afford to sign big name free agents. With the small amount of space remaining they may make a move. Remember that after June 1st the Ravens could have some cap space from resolving the Dennis Pitta issue.
