Baltimore Ravens Set To Meet With Mike Wallace
The Baltimore Ravens have been linked to Mike Wallace for a while now, and Don Banks of Sports Illustrated reports that Wallace will meet with the Ravens brass on Monday. This deal seems likely to happen as Wallace is coming off a down year and will presumably be affordable.

For the Ravens, this makes a lot of sense. There are better options than Wallace on the open market. Rueben Randle comes to mind as a guy I’d like to see in Baltimore. That being said Wallace could come to the Ravens at the best price and he has the one thing the Ravens desperately need. Wallace has plenty of speed.
The Ravens need a speed demon on their receiving corps. to give Joe Flacco a chance to unleash his rocket arm. The jury is still out on Breshad Perriman, who was the Ravens first round pick in 2016. If nothing else Wallace would be an insurance policy on a receiver we haven’t seen on the field. If Perriman ends up being a good player, the Ravens will have two of the fastest receivers in football.
Wallace is coming off a bad season. With the Vikings last season, he had 39 receptions, 473 yards and two touchdowns. There may be a reason for that though. The Vikings struggled in the deep passing game because of their poor pass protection. That meant the Vikings had fewer opportunities for Wallace to shine. Wallace is a receiver who can stretch the field vertically. He is also dangerous on crossing routes against man coverage because of his speed.

With the Ravens Wallace could have a career renaissance. With a quarterback who can throw the deep ball as well as Flacco he could be a major weapon. Remember that Wallace had an impressive 2014 campaign. The thought of him having a bounce back year isn’t a wild one. We’ll see what happens, but this looks like a real possibility.
