In twenty seasons, the Ravens have won two Super Bowls. The Ravens have been to the playoffs 10 times, and to the AFC Championship Game 4 times. There have been down years, but the Ravens are clearly a winning franchise.

Under John Harbaugh, Baltimore has seen elevated success. The Ravens have been to the playoffs in six of the last eight seasons. They have gone 77-49 in the regular season and 10-5 in the playoffs. That kind of winning does not just happen. The Ravens’ accomplishments were no accident.

The Ravens have won at least playoff game in every postseason run of the Harbaugh era. They even beat the Pittsburgh Steelers in Heinz Field in 2014. For those claiming the Ravens cannot win without Ray Lewis and Ed Reed, that was two complete seasons after their departure.

John Harbaugh knows how to win. This is an obvious statement. That knowledge did not go any where. The Ravens franchise still knows how to do buisiness. The Ravens are not suddenly turn into a franchise like the Browns just because of one bad season.

The Ravens also have a lot of excuses from last season. Harbaugh and company would never give into the pity parade mentality, but the Ravens circumstances were not great.

They had injury after injury. Terrell Suggs was lost for the season. Joe Flacco went down in week 11, after Steve Smith Sr. was already lost for the season. The schedule was brutal, especially in the beginning. This season was about as fun as slowly walking barefoot, on burning coals.

The Ravens even made being awful  almost seem impressive. They lost close game after close game to good teams. The Ravens always do everything the hard way, even losing.

The Ravens went from being a dangerous playoff team to being awful in one season. The reality of the situation is that a perfect storm of bad situations hit the purple and black last season. It just was not their year.
