The Baltimore Ravens Can Be Alright Without the Re-Injured Breshad Perriman

First of all, we don’t even know what the Baltimore Ravens would have gotten from Breshad Perriman. In theory he would be a big play maker because of his speed. But you cannot miss what you have never had. The Ravens have plenty of talent at the receiving position.

The Ravens are getting back Steve Smith Sr., which is huge. Kamar Aiken has now proven he is a solid target. Mike Wallace adds the speed to the offense. Perhaps Michael Campanaro and Keenan Reynolds can get into the fold. The Ravens drafted Chris Moore too. The point is that the Ravens have talent at the wide receiver position.

This is a punch to the gut. We got our hopes up a little bit. In all honesty, the Ravens had to know this was a possibility. The Ravens certainly were not banking on Perriman having an amazing season. We hoped for it, but they never bet on it.

The Ravens have plenty of talent at the tight end and running back positions as well. Ben Watson is a matchup nightmare at the tight end position. If he does nothing else, Wallace will make the defenses have to respect Joe Flacco’s arm strength. People also forget that Smith Sr. can still make plays down the field.

Having Perriman would have given the offense a surplus of speed. Not having Perriman, the Ravens still have enough. Perriman and Wallace would have been a nightmare for defensive coordinators. But not having Perriman does not mean they will sleep easy.

The Ravens roster does not have many baron positions. It looks pretty much fully stocked. Hopefully bad luck starts to stay away from the purple and black, as the season approaches.

It’s easy to get caught up in the mountain of disappointment we are feeling. This is by no means good news. It just is not the end of the world. The Ravens were prepared for this contingency.
