Baltimore Ravens: Studs & Duds From 3rd Preseason Game
By Hassan Zakai
Dud: Terrence Brooks
The Ravens haven’t had any luck drafting safeties since Ed Reed left in 2012. Matt Elam and Terrence Brooks are the two most disappointing, mainly because of where they were drafted and how they were expected to contribute immediately.
Brooks played better earlier in the preseason, but it’s obvious he’s thinking way too much out on the field. He doesn’t trust his instincts and that is costing him right now.
Brooks dropped the easiest interception that could have been thrown to him. Seriously, that was a gift from Matthew Stafford and Brooks just flat-out dropped it.
Lions’ running back Theo Riddick absolutely busted through the middle of the defense because Brooks missed an open field tackle, he just bounced off. Riddick had a 34-yard gain on a play that shouldn’t have been more than seven yards. That’s unacceptable for even a rookie free agent safety.
Brooks needs to show improvement to get any playing time on defense this season.
