After four preseason games, the Raven’s biggest question is still left unanswered. Who will be returning kicks? Finding a return man seemed inevitable with a roster that was oozing with potential. Unfortunately, potential can’t return kicks.
Perhaps the greatest disappointment of the preseason is Keenan Reynolds. Reynolds was one of the most hyped late-round draft picks in recent memory. Despite the hype, Reynolds is facing unemployment. He still has potential, but it seems he’ll need more time to develop than the Raven’s thought. Reynolds was waived by the Ravens today. At this point, Reynold’s best chance at a future in the NFL is the practice squad.

Receiver Michael Campanaro was cut today as well. Campanaro has been okay, but not great. He hasn’t had any stand-out performances this preseason. He has been able to stay healthy so far, which is something that has held him back in the past. Injuries are the number one reason Campanaro isn’t on the 53 man roster at the moment.
With both of these players parting ways with the Ravens, this increases the likelihood that Devin Hester could be the Ravens answer. Hester is a name you probably remember from his glory days with the Chicago Bears. The Raven’s made their lack of confidence in both Reynolds and Campanaro apparent yesterday when they worked out legendary return specialist Hester.

Hester, who’s 33, has the NFL record for returns for touchdowns with 20. After a season ruined by injury and offseason surgery, the Falcons cut Hester in July. Hester believes he still has what it takes to play at a high level, and recently released videos of him working out show that he’s still got plenty in the tank. If the Ravens decide they are desperate enough at the return position, we might be seeing Hester in black and purple this season. Remember the 53 man roster isn’t set in stone yet.
