Baltimore Ravens Fans Have Had It Good
The Ravens came to Baltimore in 1996. Since then the purple and black have been to the playoffs ten times. They have won two Super Bowls. Their first draft pick as the newly invented Baltimore franchise, has been inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
The Baltimore Ravens have had a great 20 years. The accomplishments of the purple and black need to be remembered in times like this. Four game losing streaks are brutal. The Ravens are under .500 since winning the Super Bowl. Last season may have been a disaster, this season may be up in the air, however Ravens fans have kind of been spoiled.
The Detroit Lions have been around long before football was on television and they are still waiting for a Super Bowl run. The Minnesota Vikings have been one of the most iconic teams in the history of the NFL. They have never won the Lombardi Trophy. The Eagles and Bengals have both been to the Super Bowl twice, and both times ended in defeat. The poor Buffalo Bills lost four straight Super Bowls. So many iconic and long lasting franchises have never given their fans the excitement of a Super Bowl title. The Ravens have won it all twice.

The Ravens had a few of the most iconic players in the history of the game. Ray Lewis was a great linebacker who was the face of the franchise from 1996-2012. Ed Reed was the greatest ball hawk the game will ever see. Jonathan Ogden is in the Hall of Fame. Baltimore may have lost the Colts, but their new team has given them legends that stand just as tall as Johnny Unitas, Raymond Berry and Gino Marchetti in the history of the game.
From 2008-2012 the Ravens won at least one playoff game each season. Their fifth straight playoff run ended with the confetti in the Super Dome. The Ravens went to the AFC Championship Game three times in that five year stretch. Joe Flacco and John Harbaugh may be in tough times right now, but their run has been historically good.
The 2000 season was a majestic journey. After a dismal offense went five straight games without a touchdown, the Ravens found a spark. The greatest defense of all time lifted the Ravens to 11 straight wins ending with a Super Bowl XXXV victory. The Ravens set a record for the fewest points allowed in a 16 game season.

The point is that the Ravens faithful have plenty to be proud about. Even if the Ravens flail around in a depressing mediocrity this season, we have two Lombardi Trophies. This doesn’t mean that we have to be happy about a four game losing streak. It does however mean, that we can’t forget how good we have had it.
