Baltimore Ravens: 3 Game Balls Vs. Miami Dolphins

The Ravens snapped the Dolphins six-game winning to improve to 7-5 on the season. The Ravens win helps them keep pace with the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC North.

What can you say about the first half?  It was a dominating performance by Joe Flacco and the rest of the offense.  Can we say that the Ravens are starting to hit their December stride? They have been used to playing well in December leading up to the playoffs.

Today was the most complete game that the Ravens have played all season.  Here are my three players for the Ravens that deserve game balls.

Joe Flacco:

This was Flacco’s best game this season by far. He was sharp for most of the game, except for a few passes. But you can’t really be perfect all game long.

The offense was on fire in the 1st half which is something we haven’t seen this season. Normally, the offense wakes up in the 2nd half, so it was nice to see.

Flacco was pulled from the game with 10 minutes left in the game.  His final stats were 36/47 for 381 yards while throwing four touchdowns with an interception.

The Wide Receivers/Tight Ends:

Ten players caught passes this game and every reception was equally important.  I’m not sure I’ve seen Joe Flacco get the ball to that many players since he was drafted.  If Joe has time to spread the ball around to all of his weapons, the Ravens will be dangerous the rest of the season.

Dennis Pitta had one of his best games as a pro and since coming back from a potentially career-ending injury.  He had two touchdown receptions which are his first since the 2013 season.

The Defense:

The defense was outstanding today.  That lone touchdown wasn’t a fault of the defense, it was part of a turnover deep in Ravens territory.

Having Jimmy Smith back from injury is a huge boost.  He normally shuts down one side of the field and that limits what the offense can do.

It would’ve been nice for a shutout, but I’ll take the win any day.  This win gives the Ravens some more momentum going into New England next week.
