The Baltimore Ravens may have waited to get going but after getting Tony Jefferson for the defense, Danny Woodhead helps their offense:

NFL Network’s Ian Rappaport has reported that the Baltimore Ravens are set to sign Danny Woodhead. Woodhead has been one of the most underrated play-makers in the NFL for a long time. Woodhead started his career with the New York Jets, but it took off with the New England Patriots. After becoming Tom Brady’s sneaky option out of the backfield he got a deal from the San Diego Chargers. Woodhead does his best work catching the football.

His stats have been incredible as a receiving running back. In 2015 Woodhead had 80 receptions for 755 yards and six touchdowns. In 2013 he had 76 grabs for 605 yards and six touchdowns. With 22 receptions over 20 yards on his resume, Kenneth Dixon just found his perfect pair. The Ravens will wear defenses out with running backs who can catch the football.

Did Anyone See This Coming?

More from Ebony Bird

This is a fantastic move for the Ravens. They now have what looks like an incredible duo at the running back position. This move kind of sneaked up on us. We spent so much time talking about Adrian Peterson, Jaamal Charles and even about drafting Alvin Kamara, most of us probably didn’t even think of Woodhead. This is a first class, grade A move by Ozzie Newsome.

With a clean bill of health, Woodhead is a weapon. The Ravens offense needs all the help it can get, that was very clear in 2016. With Greg Roman adding some vision to Marty Mornhinweg’s offense and talent like this, things aren’t looking down. This is the first step in making the offense productive and efficient.

The Ravens are still lacking at the receiver position. The Ravens now have a nice group of running backs and tight ends. They will surely lean on them moving forward.

The Bottom Line:

The Ravens have a clear plan moving forward. It was nerve wracking to start the day. The Ravens saw top flight receivers go to other teams. They lost Kyle Juszczyk and Rick Wagner. Now the Ravens have made two moves, and maybe their not done. Imagine if the Ravens bring back Brandon Williams and maybe even reunite with Torrey Smith… we’d be dance walking everywhere.

This is a big move for the Ravens. This is a really big move.  Newsome deserves credit. Every time he gets us worried, he pulls off a move like this.
