5. Tavon Young:

More from Ebony Bird

When the Ravens signed Brandon Carr the biggest winner was Tavon Young. Instead of a diminished role, he will go back to what he is built to do. Playing as the nickel cornerback, Young will make a larger impact. He will frustrate slot receivers. Young will help out in run defense, which helps because the nickel defense is essentially the base defense against teams that pass the ball a lot. He will blitz off the edge and make plays like Lardarius Webb once did as the Ravens nickel cornerback.

The Ravens haven’t had this good of a combination at the cornerback position since they had Webb, Jimmy Smith and Corey Graham together. Remember when Chris Hogan scored a long touchdown against Matt Elam down the middle of the field? That play probably never happens with Young defending him. That’s the kind of impact we’re talking about here. The Ravens needed a good option at the nickel cornerback and now they have it.

Young was impressive in his rookie season. He’s just getting started guys. I have written about it before, and I’m sure I will write about it again, no young Ravens player is as promising as Young is.
