Mitchell Wolfman Makes His Pick:

Cam Robinson

Rumors began circulating late March that the Ravens are “high” on Cam Robinson and for good reason too. In consecutive seasons, the Ravens have lost a cornerstone offensive lineman-Rick Wagner this season and Kelechi Osemele last year.

Robinson could be the draft’s strongest offensive lineman and boasts the best natural run blocking ability of all the prospects. With the hiring of Greg Robinson to revive the run game, the Ravens could use a skill set like Robinson’s to help accomplish such. He needs to work on technique but his problems can be coached up.

That being said, Robinson still proposes first round-level talent that would immediately provide relief to arguably the team’s greatest concern. The Ravens have recently showcased their ability in drafting and developing rookie offensive lineman into quality starters after succeeding with Ronnie Stanley and Alexis Lewis last draft. That streak could very well continue with Robinson

Here’s the caveat – this contradicts the Raven’s usual ‘best player available’ draft strategy by focusing on necessity more so than talent. Many fans will also be quick to express their distaste in drafting an offensive lineman over a premier wide receiver or pass rusher. But there’s a good reason why Ozzie is making the pick and not the fans – he knows how to build championship caliber teams. Drafting Robinson is an investment towards the future, as it addresses a major vacancy with the installation of greater aptitude and consistency in the offensive line.
