NFL Draft: 3 Reasons Why Marlon Humphrey Makes Sense
#3 – Makes secondary (potentially) one of the best in the NFL
The Ravens have made several additions to the secondary this offseason. They signed free agents Tony Jefferson and Brandon Carr. They released veteran Lardarius Webb, and then brought him back. The addition of Humphrey is the next step to making this unit one of the best in the NFL.
After the Ravens made their pick, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said that the Ravens will be very hard to throw against next season. That could be very true next season. Right now, the assumed starters are Jimmy Smith, Brandon Carr, Eric Weddle and Jefferson. That is a pretty solid secondary by itself, but now the Ravens also have Webb, Humphrey, and Tavon Young. Those are seven solid players that are going to all be capable of starting.

Some may have questioned the pick when it was made, but it was yet another solid pick by Ozzie Newsome and the Ravens. Humphrey is a big-bodied corner that has solid coverage skills. He is aggressive, and the Ravens need more of that in the secondary this season. The Ravens still have a lot of work to do, but their first round draft pick was a great start to the 2017 draft.
