Baltimore Ravens Select Nico Siragusa: Instant Reaction
It took 122 picks, but the Baltimore Ravens have finally drafted an offensive player. They selected Nico Siragusa to help their offensive line:
The Baltimore Ravens are ready to play big boy football. They drafted three players for the front seven and now a big bodied offensive guard in Nico Siragusa. Siragusa is an offensive guard who can start on day one. The Ravens offensive line needed some help and they got it here. Ozzie Newsome continues his streak of high value picks, this time though he filled a need.
If Siragusa starts at left guard, it means Alex Lewis will be most likely be moving out to right tackle. In this scenario, the Ravens just need to fill their need at the center position. The Ravens have two more picks in the 2017 NFL Draft and their needs continue to be on the offensive side of the football.

The Ravens got a powerful run blocker in Siragusa. Ozzie Newsome has a way of finding gems on the offensive line in the mid to late rounds. We’ve been over this before. Alex Lewis was a fourth round pick, Rick Wagner was a fifth round pick and there are a bunch of other examples. Siragusa will be a starter, and a good one at that. Because of that, this is a high quality pick for the Ravens.
The Bottom Line:
The purple and black need to commit to running the football next season. Joe Flacco will not have a ton of weapons in the passing game, that much is obvious. In that vision the Ravens selected a human plow in Siragusa. He isn’t related to Tony Siragusa, if you were wondering. Still it will be great for the Ravens if “The Goose” can get loose in the second level of the defense, setting up chunks of yards for the running backs.

This is a great pick for the Ravens. With their options at wide receiver dwindling down considerably, focusing on the offensive line was the right and only decision they could make.
