2. Make The Running Game The Lifeblood Of The Offense

The Ravens have to make the running game the focal point of their attack. Last season the Ravens had Joe Flacco sling the ball around on a non-stop loop. It went about as well as wearing a heavy winter coat and six layers on a steamy summer day. Every time something went horribly wrong last season, we could point to a non existent running game. It wasn’t that the Ravens running game couldn’t get the job done. It was that the Ravens running game was never given a chance to get the job done.

Draft Aftermath : AFC North Draft Grades

Kenneth Dixon is suspended for the first four games of the season, which means we’ll see a heavy dose of Terrance West. This could be a good thing. If the Ravens commit to the ground game, West could get things rolling. West is the type of player who needs to get more and more carries to be successful. The more the Ravens give him the rock, the better he will play. Danny Woodhead serves as a good accent for the running game, like Old Bay on anything. When Dixon returns, the Ravens will know how the running game should operate.

The Ravens don’t have a ton of play-makers in the passing game. They cannot throw the football all the time. Running the football is going to be very important.
