5. Tim Williams

There is a buzz around Tim Williams. He hasn’t played a down of NFL football yet, and that adds to the excitement. Williams was a quarterback take down machine with the Alabama Crimson Tide. Williams has length, acceleration and great burst off the ball. When you look at how high his ceiling is, it’s pretty exciting. I would argue though, that the most intriguing thing about Williams is that he has a high floor too. He has the goods. It shouldn’t take him long to show that in the NFL.

Now your probably thinking, why was he a third round pick then? There are a couple of reasons for this. First of all this draft class was incredibly deep, especially for defensive help. Secondly, Williams is far from a complete player. He is raw and he projects to be a pass rushing specialist early on in his career. Tyus Bowser is a more rounded player who can do everything for the linebacker group. Williams could end up being the best pass rusher on the team. He has one specialty, and it’s one of the most electrifying skill sets to have.

The Alabama product is going to be a player to watch this season. Sacks kill drives. Quarterback pressures make things happen, fumbles, interceptions and incomplete passes. Because Williams has so much potential as a guy who can get to the quarterback, it’s exciting.
