No more drive killers:

The Ravens have to protect Joe Flacco. Sacks kill drives. It’s not just keeping Joe upright that matters though. It’s doing it without holding penalties. The 2016 Ravens seemed to be the kings of killing offensive success with penalties. According to NFLPenalties.com the Ravens had 38 offensive holding penalties in 2016. Going through the Ravens penalties from last season almost feels like being an accountant doing taxes. There is a lot to go through.

The Ravens need to cut down on every type of penalty though. They were called for an absurd amount of penalties in 2016. Aren’t we tired of seeing the yellow flags thrown all over the field? Discipline has to be a priority for the Ravens this season.

Yes, the Ravens need to fix up the offensive line. Yes, bringing in Jeremy Maclin was huge. Talent plays a huge role in winning football games. It just isn’t everything. Winning games with good consistent effort and a dose of discipline is just as important.
