Jake McDonnell- Jaguars, Week 3

I’m going to throw a wild card in here and say that the most anticipated game for the Ravens in 2017 is week 3 against the Jaguars…in London.

I know, not the most sexy matchup in terms of the opponent, but the Ravens will be making their first trip oversees this season, as they are only one of eight NFL teams that have yet to play internationally. It will be interesting to see how Baltimore’s players and coaches approach not only this week, but the weeks prior to and after the week 3 contest against Jacksonville.

Let’s not forget that the Ravens have historically struggled against the Jags. According to The Football Database, the Jaguars hold an 11-9 all-time record against the Ravens. Anyone remember the Monday night game in 2011 where the Jaguars defeated the Ravens 12-7, in a game that ended up costing Baltimore the #1 seed in the AFC playoffs? Or the game in 2015, when Elvis Dumervil was flagged for a terrible facemask call that moved the Jags into field goal range, leading to the game-winning field goal and a 22-20 win?

For whatever reason, the Jaguars always seem to give the Ravens fits when the two teams meet on the field. The Jaguars have not made the playoffs since the 2007-08 season, but they have a solid roster and are used to playing in London. If the headaches from the matchups in America were not enough, I can only imagine what will happen across the pond.
