3. Marty Mornhinweg:

Look, I don’t think my take on Marty Mornhinweg is going to surprise you guys. I don’t think there will be a long line of people complaining about my take either. I remember driving down to Dallas with a friend to see the Ravens play the Cowboys. The defense really was holding their own in the beginning of that game. The Ravens jumped out to an early lead, but I saw the road victory slip away. Marty Mornhinweg abandoned the running game, the offense sputtered and the damn broke for the defense. If he kept running the ball, the Ravens could have won the game. How many instances of this do we need to see?

Mornhinweg called an absurd number of passing plays last season. Only Drew Brees threw more passes than Joe Flacco. That sentence should be alarming. It makes sense for Brees to throw it 50-60 times a game. It doesn’t make any sense for Flacco to be doing that. The Ravens seemingly fired Marc Trestman for abandoning the running game. Then Harbaugh let his new coordinator do the same exact thing.

Next: Confidence Level for each defensive position

I hope Mornhinweg proves me wrong, but he called the most frustrating offense of all-time. In a season where the offensive coordinator got fired he had the gall to repeat his mistakes. Mornhinweg needs to call it differently this year. Otherwise Baltimore’s sports radio stations better get the bleep button out, because angry fans will have seen it coming.
