Terrance West:

Here’s the most likely option out of the bunch. The Ravens could simply stay in-house and give the keys to Terrance West. Sure, that’s the boring option compared to the rest, but it makes too much sense not to happen.

After all, West was actually serviceable in 2016. West racked up 774 rushing yards (4.0 YPC) and scored six total touchdowns (five rushing, one receiving). He did that in 13 starts and appeared in all 16 games in 2016. Add West’s 236 receiving yards on 34 receptions and you’ll see he had a flat 1,000 scrimmage yards in 2016. That’s definitely serviceable, to say the least.

Although with Danny Woodhead joining West in the backfield, you can expect those receiving numbers to go down. But Woodhead posses little-to-no threat to West as a rusher. If you look at the rest of the Ravens running backs, no one inspires much hope.

Lorenzo Taliaferro and Javorius Allen are the only other names that stick out, and quite frankly neither is guaranteed a roster spot… And that’s even with Kenneth Dixon’s injury!

West has shown glimpses of being a lead guy, but his upside is capped at about 1,000 scrimmage yards like we saw last season. And that’s okay! If West can bring consistency to the run game, what more can you ask for?

If you take West’s numbers and average it over 16 starts compared to his 13, his stat line looks like this: 238/952/6. Sure, it’s not great by any means. But given the circumstances surrounding the Ravens back-field, I would take that in a heartbeat!

If the Ravens opt to stay in house for 2017, West can be good enough to carry the load. If the passing game can find a rhythm and the offensive line can provide some lanes, West can provide enough of a punch to get the Ravens through 2017.
