Bottom line:

With Kenneth Dixon’s injury, the Ravens back-field needs some kind of added depth.

Sure, Ozzie Newsome could just decide to keep both Taliaferro and Allen on the roster to join West and Woodhead, but that won’t inspire much confidence for this offense. Team’s won’t respect the Ravens run game and will make Joe Flacco beat them with his arm. And if that’s the case and Marty Mornhinweg goes back to the offense we’ve seen the last two seasons, it’ll be a long 2017.

But, with the optimism surrounding this defense, Newsome might decide to explore one of these options, or even talk to teams about other veterans like the Cardinals’ Chris Johnson, the Buccaneers’ Jacquizz Rogers, or the Chiefs’ Charcandrick West. There are plenty of options out there.

Odds are Ozzie Newsome just adds a veteran to go with this group. The Ravens don’t typically make big trade splashes and have only recently made waves in free agency.

No matter what, Ravens fans, remember to trust in the Wizard of Oz. He always has a plan. If 2017 sees the Ravens run game struggle, Newsome might have his eyes set towards a deep running back class in 2018’s crop (hello, Saquon Barkley!).

And who knows? The Ravens can still give Kenneth Dixon a shot in 2018.

Smart money is on Terrance West to be the week one starter. It would not be shocking if Newsome adds a veteran to the mix. And if Newsome does opt to make a big name trade like the ones mentioned above, you can site this article and say you saw it here first!
