Tyus Bowser should go into his third NFL game with some confidence. The Ravens rookie earned the Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week award in his performance against the Browns:

Tyus Bowser is off to a strong start in the NFL. The Baltimore Ravens rookie recorded a sack and an interception in the Ravens 24-10 victory over the Cleveland Browns. The Ravens selected Bowser with the 47th pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. When his name was called, Baltimore was eager to see what kind of impact he could have on the defense. In week 2 he made two of the biggest plays of the game. Now Bowser has something to put on his NFL resume:

The Ravens have some pretty incredible outside linebackers. Terrell Suggs has quieted all the people who said he was too old. Suggs has three sacks and two forced fumbles on the season. Matt Judon is a force off the edge. He is doing better than his quiet statistics imply. When the Ravens get Za’Darius Smith back, he can practically fly off the edge. Tim Williams is an exciting rookie who is starting to get it going.

Other than Suggs, Bowser is the most complete player the Ravens have at the outside linebacker position. He can rush the passer, play the run and make plays in pass coverage. One of the things that stands out from his college career at Houston, is that he is so multidimensional. In an incredible position group of young talent, he is the one flashing the most potential.

Bowser gives the Ravens so many options because he can do everything an outside linebacker could be asked to do. Honestly he could play inside linebacker if the Ravens needed him to do. With his athletic ability there is nothing off the table. Dean Pees is letting him flourish on the edge because he is a nightmare for any opponent. The offensive tackle has to guess if he is coming or playing coverage. If he rushes the passer he can do it with speed off the edge or he can bully his way there.

The Bottom Line:

Bowser looks really sharp for a rookie. If there is one thing that is clear, it’s that Bowser has a high football IQ. His speed is impressive. His ability to react to the play without any hesitation at all is incredible. Bowser looks like a natural. His potential is sky high and being the Defensive Player of the Week will just be the beginning of his long list of accolades.

Every week it seems to be a group effort on defense. In a game where Bowser made two big plays he was far from the only play-maker. Suggs did his thing. Brandon Carr, Lardarius Webb and Eric Weddle had interceptions. The defense is insanely good and it’s good to see Bowser making an early impact. It’s good to see Bowser getting recognition for a spectacular performance.
