3. Two-point conversion call was killer

The final scoreboard says 26-9 but this game was close for the most part. Down 19-3 in the third quarter, the Ravens made some stops and had the momentum going. A Joe Flacco 16-yard strike to Mike Wallace made the game 19-9. The Ravens decided to go for the two to make it a one-possession game.

After first glance it looked like Terrance West made it into the end zone, but the officials ruled his elbow was down before the ball reached the goal line. It didn’t look like there was inconclusive evidence to overturn the call, but the officials felt otherwise. I was at the game and you could tell the life was sucked out of the stadium when the play was overturned. If it stood, the Ravens would have been down one possession. Even though the overturned play was just the difference of two points, it felt like 20 with the way the Ravens offense was playing.

I’m not one of blame the officials, but there were some questionable calls made in the game.  Eric Weddle picked off a pass from Ben Roethlisberger early in the third quarter and ran into the end zone, but the officials blew the play dead thinking the wide receiver was down. The play was challenged by Harbaugh and overturned in the Ravens favor. Unfortunately, the touchdown didn’t count and the Ravens got the ball at the spot of the interception. A terrible four-play drive then resulted in a field goal and a missed opportunity for a touchdown.

The offense is certainly the one to blame for lack of points, but c’mon refs…
