Thursday Night Football in Baltimore brings out the best in the Baltimore Ravens:
The Baltimore Ravens beat the Miami Dolphins 40-0 in a game that you had to see to believe. This is the same Ravens team that lost to the Chicago Bears at home. This is the same team that did next to nothing right in Minnesota. Now the Ravens are 4-4 and their game in week nine matters.
This is the second year in a row that the Ravens have had a dominant win over the Dolphins in M&T Bank Stadium. Last year the Ravens beat them 38-6. This also makes the Ravens 2-0 in their color rush uniforms on Thursday Night Football. This is just what the Ravens needed to get back on track.
The Ravens owned the line of scrimmage from start to finish. Against a highly ranked run defense the purple and black had their way. Alex Collins had 18 carries for 113 yards. Buck Allen had 55 rushing yards of his own. The Ravens defense dominated the line of scrimmage as well. The Dolphins mustered under 50 rushing yards. The Ravens sacked Matt Moore three times.

The game was never in question. An early touchdown pass from Flacco really set the tone. The Ravens led wire to wire and they had one of the best game plans they’ve had in a while. The offense used tempo and seemed to have an extra bounce. The defense was aggressive. The cornerbacks ruled the game by taking away the Dolphins’ receivers. It was awesome and it was awesome all the way around.
What went down:
There were a handful of memorable plays in this game. Jeremy Maclin caught a 34 yard touchdown on one of the best throws you’ll ever see from Joe Flacco. Collins put on quite the show with a 27 yard reception where he made everybody miss. C.J. Mosley scored on a pick-six and so did Jimmy Smith. Sadly, the most memorable play from a great night of Ravens football is the cheap shot that Flacco received from Kiko Alonso. Flacco is now in concussion protocol. He can’t play until the doctors say he’s okay.
Matt Moore had an awful day under center for the Dolphins. He only managed to throw for 176 yards and two interceptions. Nothing went right for the Dolphins. Everything went right for the Ravens. It was almost like the Ravens wanted to pack an entire season of fun into one contest.

The Ravens had a nearly flawless night. If their quarterback hadn’t been taken out of the game by a vicious hit, the evening would have been absolutely perfect. While I do want to make sure that Ravens fans are cautious with their optimism, this was a step in the right direction.
