Danny Amendola

Joe Flacco needs a reliable possession receiver who isn’t practically running around the field with a walker (no offense, Ben Watson). And no, running backs don’t count (sorry Buck Allen). So, what are the Ravens to do? Who can the Ravens add that can be that safety valve Flacco desperately needs to succeed? I have a guy in mind…

Insert Danny Amendola.

Amendola has been in the league since 2008 and has become the very definition of a “slot receiver.” This is a key to the offense the Ravens have lacked for quite some time now. Amendola has proven throughout his 10-year career to be a smart route runner with soft hands. That sounds like a dream come true for the Ravens.

With Amendola, it is important to remember that he isn’t going to do a lot after the catch. After all, Amendola has a career 9.6 YPR. With that in mind, having under 10.0 YPR didn’t stop Dennis Pitta from succeeding in 2016.

Amendola can come in and be that safety valve for Flacco and give the Ravens an element that is much needed out of the slot. Amendola should be a relatively cheap option, too, as he is a free agent at the end of this season.
