3. Jeremy Maclin’s disappointing season continues in painful fashion

When the Ravens threw $11 million Jeremy Maclin’s way over the summer, I’m sure the Ravens and their fans alike envisioned him catching more than 39 passes for 418 yards and three touchdowns through 15 games. Whether it’s been a lack of time to establish chemistry with Joe Flacco, or several minor injuries, Maclin’s production this season could end up totaling the lowest amount of his career, including his disappointing 2016 season that ended with just 536 reception yards and two touchdowns.

Maclin barely saw the field on Sunday. After Flacco completed a 22-yard pass to him two minutes into the game, Maclin exited the field and was diagnosed with a “left knee” injury. After being examined for a few minutes, he briefly re-entered the game. However he left after just a few plays and did not return.

It should be noted that Maclin has barely practiced all season with injuries to his back and shoulder. When practicing, it’s mainly been while wearing a red non-contact jersey. It’s clear that injuries are beginning to take a toll on the 29-year-old receiver, who’s 2016 season was also injury-riddled (groin).

After the game, Harbaugh announced that both Maclin and defensive end Carl Davis (also injured on Sunday), will undergo MRI’s on Monday to determine the extent of their injuries. Harbaugh did say that neither player’s injury is expected to fall serious. Regardless, the Ravens knew the injury risks associated with Maclin prior to signing him. Those issues are coming up again this season.
