Super Bowl 52: It’s a battle between a team that has too many Super Bowl rings (New England Patriots) and a team that has no Super Bowl wins (Philadelphia Eagles)

Super Bowl Sunday is the best day of the year, even when the New England Patriots are representing the AFC. This is a Baltimore Ravens blog so I think I can say that with some credibility. If it sounds a bit snippy, it’s because we’ve watched the Patriots play in the Super Bowl in  the 2001, 2003, 2004, 2007, 2011, 2014 and 2016 seasons. I think it’s fair to say that every body has seen enough of Tom Brady battling for the Lombardi Trophy. The Patriots won it all last year, giving them 5 Super Bowl wins in the Belichick/Brady era.

The Philadelphia Eagles have never won the Super Bowl, which almost seems unbelievable considering how rich their history is. The Eagles have had some of the greatest players ever to play the game. We’re talking about guys like Reggie White, Chuck Bendarik, Brian Dawkins and Donovan McNabb. The Eagles are possibly the most accomplished team there is in the NFL not to bring home that glorious Lombardi Trophy. Unless your a Patriots fan (and if you’re here you probably are anything but a Patriots fan) the Eagles winning would be the feel good story. It would be a reward for a city that has been loyal and passionate for the Eagles the whole time.

So here we go. The Super Bowl weekend is upon us. It’s the weekend that changes everything. The Ravens faithful knows that well. Super Bowl XXXV and Super Bowl XLVII were special moments that Baltimore will never forget. Do we wish the Ravens were playing on Super Sunday? Absolutely. Do we let that ruin a perfectly good Super Sunday? Absolutely not. Let’s break down the big game.
