3. Hayden Hurst

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, the Ravens need pass-catchers. That’s not just limited to the wide receiver position. The best option for the Ravens this year is through the draft and South Carolina’s Hayden Hurst is a potential target. After a failed professional baseball career, Hurst is now a top tight end prospect.

Hurst seems to be the least talked about tight end prospect in a group with some big names like Dallas Goedert, Mike Geisecki, Mark Andrews and Troy Fumagalli. That’s partly because of his age. Hurst chose to forego his senior season but is already 24-years old. Some teams feel like that’s a bad investment because they’re losing years, some teams may feel differently. All the names mentioned above will be at the combine and I want to see how Hurst stacks up against the best competition.

Hurst’s numbers weren’t eye-popping during his career but he proved to be a reliable receiver in two years as a starter. But unlike some of the bigger-named tight ends, Hurst can also be an asset as a blocker next season. That could significantly help the Ravens as they continue to establish the run game with Alex Collins and the backfield.
