The case against signing Muhammad Wilkerson:

Speaking of investments, the Ravens pay their quarterback an awful amount of money. Shouldn’t they give Joe Flacco somebody to catch his passes? The Ravens priority has to be offense and they have to prioritize it all season long. Is the defensive line dominant? No, but it will be fine. The Ravens need a little flash. They need play-makers. They need game changers. Wilkerson is a good player but he isn’t what the Ravens desperately need.

The Ravens should also let their talent continue to grow and develop. Willie Henry went from being called a bust to a promising young player in one season. If Chris Wormley or Bronson Kaufusi makes a similar leap in performance, signing Wilkerson would prove to be an unnecessary move. The Ravens offense doesn’t just need one player to fix things. They need an entirely new set of weapons for Flacco.

The Ravens need to consider Wilkerson. They have to at least think about it. After doing their due diligence they should probably look elsewhere in free agency. The offense has too many needs. Unless he comes to Baltimore at a really non-restricting price, he probably shouldn’t come to Baltimore at all. Wilkerson is a good player who would make the Ravens better; however the defensive line is not priority one, two or three.
