1. Passing yards per game: 189.4

You knew this stat was going to make the list and I almost know it by heart with the number of times it’s been brought up. The Ravens’ passing offense was anemic last season, averaging just 189.4 yards per game. If there’s one major struggle to point to with the team’s disappointments, this is it.

The Ravens struggled to get much going through the air all season. While there were plenty of flashes of production, inconsistencies from the receiving core limited much hope of success. A 31-year old Mike Wallace led the team in receiving yards with 748 while a 37-year old Ben Watson wasn’t far behind with 522. That’s a problem when two veterans produce the bulk of the yards for an offense filled with young receivers like Breshad Perriman and Chris Moore. But after plenty of frustrations in the pass-catching department, Ozzie Newsome is completely revamping the receiving core.

Mike Wallace and Jeremy Maclin are gone while  Michael Campanaro and Ben Watson are unrestricted free agents that likely won’t return. The Ravens have signed John Brown and Michael Crabtree as replacements but it’s expected the team won’t go quietly in free agency or the draft.

Joe Flacco isn’t getting any younger and the Ravens must desperately improve this area of the offense.
