1. Tavon Young

With all the concern about the injury situation of Jimmy Smith, it’s a good time to point out that Tavon Young is a good player. Young has a chance to be one of the Ravens top cornerbacks. He missed the 2017 season with an injury he sustained in OTA’s, which sums up the kind of luck the Ravens have in a nutshell. Because the Ravens needed his help desperately, Young got a good chance to shine in 2016. In his rookie season Young exceeded the expectations for a fourth round pick.

It wouldn’t shock me if Young gets time opposite of Marlon Humphrey as the number two cornerback. You never know what will happen with Smith. Will number 22 be ready for the start of the season? Will he get hurt again? Young is probably going to be the Ravens nickel cornerback, but he may need to step up at times. The one thing we learned in 2016 is that Young is capable and confident against any wide receiver.

The Ravens are going to have a lot going on for the next few months. That just means it’s important not to forget about players who they already have locked on the roster. The five players I mentioned today, all have a chance to have monster seasons for the purple and black.
