According to NFL Network’s Ian Rappoport, the Baltimore Ravens are the team that is most intrigued by Dez Bryant being a free agent. The Ravens have to ink a deal with the longtime Cowboys wide receiver:

Good news Ravens fans, the Ravens want Dez Bryant. This is a quote from Ian Rappoport from Chris Wesseling’s NFL.com article about this news:

"“They signed Michael Crabtree earlier in the offseason,” Rapoport explained on Monday’s edition of NFL Total Access. “They still are looking to add a receiver. There is a lot to like about the Baltimore Ravens and Dez Bryant. Keep an eye on that one.”"

The Ravens have to get the job done and sign Dez Bryant. He would potentially be the most dynamic wide receiver the purple and black ever had. Bryant has a thick 6’2″ 220 lbs. frame that makes him one of the best jump ball wide receivers in the NFL. Yes, it’s been three years since Bryant put up elite numbers, however his recent performance is anything but shabby.

Bryant is still a big play wide receiver:

More from Ebony Bird

Bryant caught 69 passes for 838 yards and six touchdowns last season. He has been a big play machine his entire career, and there is no reason to think he wouldn’t continue that if he was a Raven. In the past two seasons Bryant has scored 14 touchdowns and has had 18 catches over 20 yards. Bryant is good for about 50 yards per game and you never know when he will go off and steal the show.

The Ravens need to draft a wide receiver or two for the future. If they sign Bryant though, that lessens their needs. Bryant is only 29 and he has a good bit of football left in him.

Makes too much sense:

Flacco is not the most accurate passer, but when he trusts his targets to pull the football down, he takes shots. That’s why Derrick Mason, Anquan Boldin and Steve Smith were so successful with the Ravens, Flacco believed in them. Crabtree and Bryant may not be burners, but they would unquestionably the toughest duo in football.

If the Ravens make this happen they are showing their fans that they’re going for it. They would be bringing in a superstar who isn’t done and who has something to prove. I know Bryant would like to play in the NFC East to serve revenge against the Cowboys, but the best way to do that is to be good. It doesn’t matter where it happens. If Bryant has a rejuvenated stat line, the Cowboys are going to look foolish. Bryant can succeed in Baltimore.

The Bottom Line:

The Ravens have to get Dez Bryant in a Ravens uniform. I don’t want to hear any complaints if Newsome works his magic and brings in the exciting wide receiver. Yes, the Ravens would be the epicenter for older and slower wide receivers. Yes, it would be nice to draft targets for the long-term instead of these two-three year fixes, but this is the best possible move for the Baltimore Ravens. The Ravens must sign Bryant. If they do, you can almost smell playoff football.
