Chad Thomas-EDGE-Miami

Over the last five or so seasons, Ozzie Newsome has sure drafted his fair share of EDGE defenders and SAM linebackers. Just look on twitter, believe me, you’ll see the jokes of his fascination of drafting players at that position. And even though he drafted two last year, in Tyus Bowser and Timmy Williams.

They still have questions marks whether they will pan out in the NFL. Terrell Suggs is 36 years old and playing on the last year of his contract. And even though they have drafted quite the horde of pass rushers, they don’t have a player at the position that has practicality stuck out from the rest. Ravens fans will hate to hear this, but: A pass Rusher is the most overlooked need.

Even though some believe this is a weak EDGE class, Chad Thomas is certainly an intriguing player to watch. Him and Joe Jackson, the defensive end that played opposite of Thomas, led the charge on the Hurricanes Defense. Even though he only had 4.5 sacks in 2017, there is more to football than just reading a stat sheet.

Thomas is great at coming off the corner, has phenomenal hands and is extremely fast for most offensive tackles to guard. Thomas has the porotype size you want in your starting defensive end, standing at 6’5 270 lbs. Coming out of high school he was five-star athlete ranked only behind one Myles Garrett. Thomas was one of the leaders on the Hurricane defense that was rather young. He could also be a potential leader for the Ravens defense down the road.
