5. Hayden Hurst:

More from Ebony Bird

The advantage of this rookie being on your Fantasy Football roster is simple. Hurst is going to be used in the Ravens offense. When you look at what Joe Flacco did with Dennis Pitta in 2016, it shows the importance of a tight end in Baltimore. The Ravens drafted Hurst in the first round. They not only want him to be a star, they need him to be. Hurst is going to be a central part of the offense.

Hurst is a big 6’5″ target and he will help Flacco in the middle of the field. He will fill the Pitta void but he will do it with more explosiveness. Flacco could average seven yards a pass throwing it to Pitta all day, while Hurst can get you 10-15 yards per catch. Hurst is an exciting player when he has the ball. He may not be a burner, but he’s quick and a ferocious ball carrier. This is honestly what the Ravens were looking for when they drafted Crockett Gillmore out of Colorado State.

The reason Hurst is number five on the list is twofold. While I think he is a solid late round option for PPR leagues, I also need to see him produce touchdowns before I get to excited about his fantasy value. In three seasons with the South Carolina Gamecocks, he only scored three touchdowns. Secondly, he is a rookie and there is a wait and see aspect of all of this. Hurst should be a player that surprises a lot of people, but you have to see it first.
