For Ravens, Madden ratings, NFL Top 100 Misleading

The Ravens don’t have a lot of highly rated players in the soon to be released Madden 19 game. C.J. Mosley is the only Raven who made the NFL Top100:

The Baltimore Ravens have not been one of the more exciting teams in football other the past few years. Star power has been a real absence for the Ravens, as that have missed the playoffs three years in a row. It’s not surprising that the Madden game isn’t exactly loving the Ravens. The Ravens are not going into the season as a premier team. They don’t get top billing.

The NFL Top 100 is a little insane. J.J. Watt made the list playing in just five games but Terrell Suggs is off the list with 11 sacks…yeah that makes sense. Eric Weddle had a case with his six interceptions. It’s hard to find more than a few tackles better than Ronnie Stanley, but he remains off the Top 100. While the Madden ratings are more or less fair for a team that missed the playoffs for after losing at home in week 17, the NFL Top 100 is laughable. It still is meaningless.

Why the ratings are what they are:

Baltimore restocked their team with young players and veterans they could get a good price on. Hayden Hurst and Mark Andrews haven’t played a snap of NFL football yet. Michael Crabtree may be a huge signing but the Raiders let him walk right out the door. Willie Snead basically wasted the 2017 season with a suspension and a hamstring problem. John Brown has the ability, but has missed a lot of playing time. Madden ratings will go up when some these players prove themselves, you just have to wait for the updates.

Must Read: 42 Ravens who should be safe from the roster bubble

The Ravens are in a weird spot because nobody is betting on them in the national media, but for once they are getting a lot of attention. That has a lot to do with the fact that the Ravens drafted Lamar Jackson in the 1st round. Jackson won the Heisman trophy at Louisville and was one of the true stars of college football. That’s going to bring some attention to the team. Yet, with all of this the Ravens aren’t being viewed as contenders.

Matt Judon made his feelings known about the Madden ratings on Twitter:

All this preseason mumbo-jumbo doesn’t mean a thing. It wouldn’t mean a thing if Baltimore was ranked the highest team in Madden with 99’s across the board and it doesn’t mean a thing that they are ranked a 79 with a few players in the 90’s. The Ravens have to go out and win football games. That may sound obvious, and as a reader you may think that is a simple thought to base a post on.

The Bottom Line:

The thing is that through all the noise and the speculation. what happens on the field can change all of this. The Ravens Flock sometimes falls victim to the trap of “We never get enough respect.” Well the team can earn respect by proving it on the field.

Yes, even after the Ravens beat Peyton Manning’s Broncos in the playoffs the story was about how the Broncos lost. Yeah, the Ravens aren’t media darlings and they never have been. The point is that if the purple and black win the Super Bowl, or make some noise at all in the playoffs, a lot of people will have been proven wrong. When the Ravens Flock sees this, they shouldn’t be mislead. The roster looks solid, and the hope of a new season is there.
