Patrick Onwuasor is in a neck and neck competition with Kenny Young. This may actually be bad news for Onwuasor. Young is a rookie, and he has a real chance to take Onwuasor’s job at the Will linebacker spot. In two games Young has looked the part, he has eight combined tackles to his name. Young is a very athletic linebacker, and one thing that has been impressive is his pursuit of the football.

Onwuasor has the built in advantage of being the player with the most experience. The problem is that can work against him. Young has to do less to impress the Ravens coaching staff. The Ravens want more from the position next to C.J. Mosley, otherwise Young wouldn’t be there. Both players are locks to make the team and that makes this battle more interesting. This preseason competition will have lasting impact through the regular season.

This positional battle is compelling. Onwuasor has developed over a few years with the franchise. He’s an easy player to root for, and fans would love to see his hard work pay off. Young is a new and exciting talent and every fan wants to see the Ravens draft picks work out. The Ravens could use both linebackers throughout the season, which would still be a huge win for Young.
