2. The defense is legit:

The Ravens defense is legit. Other than some trouble with A.J. Green, the Ravens got out of the first quarter of the season doing quite well. The Ravens defense is scary good. Don Martindale has proven to be a sharp minded defensive coordinator. He comes into the game with a plan that can adapt as needed. That was the key against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Adjustments kept the Steelers off the scoreboard in the second half. Baltimore had the talent, now they have the right coordinator to go with it.

The Ravens defense has an elite secondary, athletic linebackers and a stingy defensive line. The Ravens defense completed halted the Bills. They held the Broncos scoreless for the last three quarters of their week three battle. Pittsburgh only scored 14 points against them despite having a Hall of Fame worthy quarterback and weapons all over the offense. Cincinnati was a bad moment for the defense. The Ravens stopped the bleeding in the second half though, it was just too late. It made it feel like if C.J. Mosley hadn’t gone down, that game would have been different.

The Ravens defense can go toe to toe with any offense in the NFL. With a very good situation at cornerback, and an elite group of safeties, Baltimore is only allowing an average of 193.2 yards per game. The real impressive thing here is that the Ravens are able to get to the passer, but they are not doomed if the pass rush is slowed down. The Ravens have a respectable 10 sacks, but that hasn’t been the biggest source of their success. In years past, the Ravens defense went as far as the pass rush went. This defense is legit and its a perfect marriage of talent and coaching leading the way.
