2. The Running Game is Broken:

Ravens fans, don’t ask when the Ravens running game is going to get going. Don’t do it. It’s broken and until it is fixed, the answer is that nothing is coming from the Ravens rushing attack. The Ravens had to rely on jet sweeps and Lamar Jackson to run the football. All of that stuff is fine when you have running backs producing. However it’s not okay for that to replace running back production. The Ravens run game is like drinking coffee creamer without the coffee. It’s using the additives rather than the substance.

It’s hard to say that this falls on Alex Collins, at least entirely. It’s just that Collins is the only player on the roster with the talent to fix the problem. He has the big play capability and explosiveness that you’re not getting from Buck Allen or anybody else at the running back position. The problem is that he’s not finding the right rushing lanes. The offensive line isn’t making it easy for him, but they are allowing him to make things happen. The only thing that Collins is making Baltimore is frustrated.

The Ravens need to seriously consider trading for a running back. The scheme needs to be fixed, but don’t hold your breath on that. The Ravens need a running back who can make something out of nothing. They need a running back who can take a three yard run and break it open for a bigger gain. The Ravens are not getting enough from the running game. They are making the offense one dimensional. When the offense clicks, the passing game clicks. When the offense falls short, the passing offense is getting off track. If the Ravens don’t fix the ground game, they are in trouble. No idea should be off the table here.
