2. Efficiency is half the battle:

More from Ebony Bird

Efficiency is half the battle here. Jared Goff completed just half of his passes while Brady completed 60 percent of his. The Rams third down conversion percentage was the stuff of horror films and while the Patriots didn’t light up the scoreboard, they moved the ball some. The Patriots didn’t play a great game offensively by any stretch of the imagination. What they did was they chipped away at it, while the Rams were just bottled up.

Jared Goff on 3rd downs was atrocious. He couldn’t get anything done. The big thing here is that the Rams were in a lot of bad situations in this game. There were a lot of 3rd and long situations. There were a lot of stuffed runs on 1st downs and incomplete passes that got the Rams off schedule. Goff was sacked four times and the Rams had trouble to sustain drives.

In the end, the quarterback who has been there over and over again won the game. The quarterback who had to prove himself on the Super Bowl stage didn’t get the job done. The Rams made things harder for themselves than they had to. That’s not the way to win a football game, yet alone the big game.
